5 Tips for Your First Pole Fitness Class

Starting something new can feel overwhelming, but your first pole fitness class doesn't have to be! Here are five tips to help you feel confident and prepared.

1. Wear the Right Clothes

You'll need bare skin for grip on the pole. Wear shorts and a sports bra or fitted top. Avoid:

  • Long sleeves or pants
  • Lotions or oils on your skin
  • Jewelry that could scratch the pole

Comfort is key, so choose athletic wear that allows for movement.

2. Come with an Open Mind

Everyone starts somewhere. Your first class will focus on the fundamentals—basic grips, simple spins, and proper technique. Don't worry about keeping up with others; you'll learn at your own pace in a supportive environment.

3. Focus on Technique, Not Perfection

Pole fitness is a journey, not a destination. In your first class, we'll break down every move step-by-step, emphasizing understanding the mechanics rather than achieving perfection right away. Building a strong foundation is more important than how high you can climb on day one.

4. Ask Questions

No question is too small. Whether you're unsure about a grip, a movement, or how to position your body, we encourage questions. Our instructors are here to help you learn safely and build confidence.

5. Be Patient with Yourself

Progress takes time. Some moves will feel natural immediately, while others require more practice. That's completely normal. Celebrate small wins, and remember that every expert was once a beginner.
